I have no idea why the shotgun house at 2404 Palmyra Street was demolished before my eyes this morning. It was recently occupied, it was renovated after the storm, it was not on a slab foundation, and it did not appear to have any significant structural defects. It was on the SHPO's list of houses up for a potential move, and it was a contributing historic property.
I have not yet heard an explanation for what seems like a needless demolition.
