Chopped

"The replacement VAMC would maintain, and enhance, much of the green space around the Pan- Am Building and the live oaks along Canal, South Rocheblave and Banks Streets."

Those were 80-90 year old oaks, some planted as early as 1918, when the City was planting oaks throughout town and designating some plantings as living war memorials.

Are any recovery funds to be used for landscaping areas where these trees were removed? The oaks along Banks survived Karina's winds and the levee failures' water. Their voluntary removal is not a diaster-related safety issue.

The storm was Katrina and the typo was unintentional.

How much will the new landscaping cost and who is expected to foot the bill?
