Additional State Budget Trouble for Louisiana

I can only imagine this further reduces the likelihood that LSU will be able to finance its proposed medical complex in Lower Mid-City:

The state budget deliberations went from contentious to chaotic Friday, when a forecasting panel was told that the current-year deficit will be at least $261 million higher than legislators had previously been let to expect.

Even if the new figures are not finalized until fall, the uncertainty about the figures itself would likely move a prudent legislature to be more cautious and conservative.
